The Rhode Island Wind Ensemble will make its fourth appearance at Woonsocket’s magnificent Stadium Theatre on Sunday afternoon, March 16th at 2:00 pm, performing some of Hollywood’s greatest film and TV music of all time in “Movie Music and More!”

Known for its innovative approach to concert programming, the Rhode Island Wind Ensemble (RIWE) is a modern wind band of fifty skilled volunteer musicians of all ages and from all walks of life, who believe that live music helps build community. Their mission is to provide audiences of diverse ages and cultural backgrounds access to live music of the highest quality, faithfully presenting the best in traditional wind band repertoire alongside music of underrepresented and historically disenfranchised communities.

“Some of the best music written in our lifetimes has come from Hollywood,” commented the ensemble’s conductor, Dr. Robert Franzblau. “From Star Wars to Pirates of the Caribbean, from The Wizard of Oz to those old classic sitcom themes, movie and TV scores speak directly to our emotions. We’re excited to pay homage to great Hollywood composers like Harold Arlen, John Williams, Alan Menken, Danny Elfman, and many more. We’ll perform two original scores to vintage silent films: a 1927 animated Felix the Cat short with a hilarious score by James Bohn, and the world premiere of a new score to the 1902 classic “La Fée Printemps,” composed by Emmy award winning Rhode Island resident Roger Cichy. Plus, we’ll revisit some of our favorite cartoon and TV sitcom theme songs, complete with a sing-along!”

Tickets: $21, $29, $36
