The Cherry Poppin' Daddies will be performing LIVE: ONE NIGHT ONLY, at the Stadium Theatre Performing Arts Centre. The Cherry Poppin' Daddies are an American rock band formed in Eugene, Oregon in 1988 by Steve Perry (lead vocals/guitar). The Daddies played an unconventional lyric-driven mixture of punk rock, swing music, funk and ska, among other styles.
In mid-2009, the Cherry Poppin' Daddies released two albums, a re-issue of Susquehanna and the band's second compilation album, Skaboy JFK: The Skankin' Hits of the Cherry Poppin' Daddies, a collection of the band's previous ska songs along with several newly recorded tracks.
Their 1997 release, Zoot Suit Riot, went Double Platinum and catapulted swing music back onto American popular radio. In the intervening years the upbeat danceable anthem, Zoot Suit Riot, has become as much of a staple at weddings, bar mitzvahs or the 7th inning stretch of a Yankees game as YMCA or Celebration. The Cherry Poppin' Daddies bring the energy of the ultimate fun party band, mixing it up enough to delight audience members of all generations. They will be performing hit songs including: ZOOT SUIT RIOT, BUST OUT, TOM THE LION, BROWN DERBY JUMP, HERE COMES THE SNAKE.
